I was just wondering what
I was going to blog about and I started thinking about how I got to where I am
now business wise. Well I had a very unexpected gap in my work life and I got
to thinking what was I going to do…and while trailing the internet for jobs
/ideas I decided I no longer wanted to work for anyone else but myself.
so long story short I put
together all the things I liked or enjoyed, I liked shopping, clothes shopping,
not for myself though my children and ever since that horrid recession (p.s I
still don’t believe we are out of the recession as we are all lead to believe
but that’s another blog maybe ;-) ) and shops were closing down left right and
centre I felt and still do feel there is a gap in the market for children’s
fashion focused clothing.
So I spent a long time
researching and trying new suppliers but I needed some customers so there I hit
another brick wall. Well isn’t Facebook fantastic I bought some stock, took
pictures, uploaded and made sales whoopee. But it was a lot of running around,
if only I could get my customers in one place at the same time, light bulb
moment children’s clothing party plans so I did some more research worked out
what I could offer. Which was 10% commission of all orders place and paid for
on the night delivery in a week giving me plenty time to complete orders.
While I was writing this I
decided I wanted to know where party plans came from?! I remember when I was
younger my mam held women’s clothing party plans and she often went to Tupper
wear party’s needless to say my mam has a lot of Tupper ware. There was also
lingerie parties and a very popular ongoing party plan Anne summers. But I
delved a bit deeper and came across the history of Tupper wear and was truly
amazed by what I found out.
So here is a bit of History
about party plans it originated in 1950 by an amazing lady called Brownie Wise,
she discovered Tupperware and found it to be a product of great use and so she
began selling it at parties she went on to create a social networking marketing
system through dealers and sellers that quickly outsold Tupper wears store sales
which then caught the eye of Mr Tupper wear himself (earl Tupper the inventor)
who invited her to become vice president of Tupper ware home parties she did
this all in a year she was an incredible
woman who was even the first women to appear on the cover of business week
(which is a weekly magazine which was created to provide information and
interpretation about what was happening in the business world) how amazing is
it to think that even in 1950 there was a women entrepreneur and let’s face it
in an era where women’s roles where at home she helped give hope and
independence to thousands of other likeminded women. If you happen to get the
chance please look her up she is a truly inspirational lady. her story is
getting made into a movie hopefully this year I will definitely be watching it
as her story ended quiet sad and I do believe if she had been born just 30
years later how different things could have been.
